On 7th April, 1915, 2nd Worcestershire battalion of 5 Brigade, 2nd Division moved into the trenches at Festubert where they remained until relieved on 15th April. They were shelled on a regular basis while here and on 15th April, the day on which Arthur Thorpe was killed, the village and the billets of the reserve company there were hit. |
